Visiting Byker Hall
The Pod
In Winter 2020, Byker Hall designed a purpose-built pod which is located within the reception of our Home. After facilitating outdoor visits throughout the Summer months, as a result, we recognised the need for a safe indoor visiting environment as an alternative to visiting in bedrooms.
The Pod is a warm and welcoming area which allows visitors to see their loved ones through a Perspex screen with an intercom system to aid clear communication between the resident and their two visitors.
When visiting of home visitors do not require a test to enter the Pod.
Air flows throughout the Pod during and after the visit takes place to minimise the risk of transmission of COVID-19. Consequntly, the Pod has a robust infection prevention schedule. Ensuring spaces are cleaned after each use including handles, chairs and hard surfaces.
Visiting Rooms
At Byker Hall, we have allocated three rooms to facilitate in-house visiting without a screen. As a result, the removal of the screen has been a significant and emotional step forward on journey back to normality for families visiting our home.
Our rooms are a comfortable homely environment for our residents to have a well needed catch up with their families. Visitors must have a test upon arrival and the visit takes place 30 minutes later if a negative test is provided. Full PPE is provided and is required to be worn by all visitors.

Outdoor Visiting
Byker Hall has areas within the grounds to enjoy an outdoor visit (weather permitting!).
We are regularly reviewing and updating our visiting protocols when advised by Public Health Authorities.
